How we vet.
Every listing has been reviewed by our team for values alignment — not perfection. Here's what that actually means.

"We don't have a checklist. We have a lens. We're not looking for providers who are all things to all people — we're looking for people doing something meaningful and specific, with a generous spirit."
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
01
They listen to people with lived experience
Not as a courtesy — as a practice. The people closest to the pain are closest to the knowledge.
02
They're community-first
They understand that healing doesn't happen in isolation, and that a 50-minute session is not the whole picture.
03
They practice liberation health care
They name systems. They don't pretend that poverty, racism, housing instability, and trauma are personal failures.
04
They're anti-carceral
They do not use force, coercion, or the threat of institutionalization as a default clinical tool.
05
They're antiracist
Not just "culturally competent" — actively working to dismantle the ways racism shows up in care.
07
They're neurodiversity affirming
They're not trying to normalize you into a version of yourself that's easier for other people.
08
They're LGBTQ+ affirming
Fully. Not tolerant — affirming. There's a difference and we know it when we see it.
09
They're disability accessible
In their space, their communication, and their clinical worldview — not just a ramp at the front door.
10
They're doing something real
06
A specific population, modality, or gap they've decided to address. We value providers with a point of view.
03
WHAT WER'E NOT LOOKING FOR
Perfection. Providers don't need to check every box — this isn't a credentialing process, it's a values conversation.
We're also not looking for providers who perform liberation language without practicing it. The lens we apply is relational, not rhetorical.
If a listing ever doesn't feel right to you, tell us. This directory grows and improves through community feedback.
Listing in The Co-op directory is not a clinical referral or endorsement of any provider or organization. Inclusion reflects values alignment as assessed by our team — it does not constitute a guarantee of care quality, safety, or outcomes. Trust your own experience when choosing a provider.
